Contemporary Flychair Seating Design by Patrick Norguet

February 11, 2010 By: Uli Category: Seating

Flychair Contemporary Seating Design

Fly Chair is the latest design from French artist Patrick Norguet for Swedish manufacturer OFFECCT. The contemporary chair itself has been worked on by Norguet for four years antil he and his team found the right technology to produce the chair. A first glance at Fly makes one think of the Far East, and Norguet compares the shape of the chair to the helmet worn by Japanese samurai. Fly has an organic design language in which the fabric itself creates much of the shape by being stretched over the metal frame. Because very little energy is used to make the fabric, Fly meets OFFECCT’s high demands for sustainable production.

April 06, 2009 By: Uli Category: Lighting

stylish lighting feature tress lamp with balck and white

This Tress Lamp collection is designed by Marc Sadler exclusively for Italian lighting manufacturer Foscarini. Made from interwoven threads drowned in resin, the final appearance resulted the beautiful texture of baskets. The effect is an interplay of full and empty spaces, interwoven light and material, distributed differently according to the use of the lamp, which evokes the warm touch of fabric, creating an extremely suggestive visual and tactile effect.

Tress Lamp is available in two versions of black and white color. Each color refers to different personality. Black represents underlines the weave which moulds into three-dimensional decor, while the white version has a lighter, more discrete presence.

In the floor lamp version, the spread of the beam of light creates a particularly attractive effect, thanks to the two light sources with separate switches. The lower light completely illuminates the heart of the lamp and underlines the graphic interplay of the weave, creating an enveloping effect, while the upper light produces illumination that is reflected towards the ceiling.

Contemporary Modern Sofa Designs From FRONT Designers

April 05, 2009 By: Uli Category: Seating

Modern sofa designs

The Swedish has a group of talented women designers which has delivered their new seating designs for Moroso. Moroso is knwon for Italian furniture manufacturer.

The FRONT’s collection makes a striking use of photographic images, an interweave of draped fabric and a photo of flying cushions, that are printed on a high-quality velvet used to cover two sofas and an armchair. The range is rounded off with a low table and a carpet with a picture of reflections of light and shadow ideally originating from a slightly open window, unseen, elsewhere. Therefore the creative process does not start from the product’s form but from a picture of that form. The work is centred around the manufacturing process, from design to finished product, in which the choice of photos and their processing are vital elements. Via
