This is Yichun Liu’s ingenious entry from 2008 Taiwan International Design Competition. When the chairs are slid underneath the table with the front legs placed on the crossbar, they lock into position and handily provide wheels for the table. Space-saving and functional, this seems like it’d be a good fit for a space-tight school.

German designer Martin Ballendat unveiled his latest creation on Perillo chair which can be used for sitting and working on a laptop. The sleek armrest doubles as a built-in table. This chair is manufactured for Swedish Z?co, which has won a Red Dot Award?one of only two so far achieved for the Z?co brand.

Crafted from one continuous piece of material, the seat of the Perillo Lounge Chair is a curved form meant to accommodate the human body in its concavity. Given Z?co?s emphasis on ergonomics, this aspect of Ballendat?s chair is as much functional as it is aesthetic.
